Hello June

Hello June

As I stood staring at myself in the mirror I realized that i didn’t recognize the woman staring back at me. Not because I looked different (maybe a little tired around the eyes 😆)

The person looking back at me looked immensely sad, confused and frustrated.

We read all these success stories of how someone started a restaurant with a grain of rice that they had to wrestle from a rat of the bus. (Huge exaggeration 😆, but you get what I mean)

The media around us makes it seem as though success comes just like that, poof! You have a dream, you believe in yourself and just like that, everything works out. They share stories of how people with little resources create great empires, what they don’t share is how long it took them to get there and how many times they failed while getting there.

Doing anything of worth takes commitment, consistency and discipline. It is willing yourself to keep going even when things get grim, even when others don’t understand your path, even when they don’t support your choices.

Simon Sinek puts it beautifully when he emphasizes on knowing your why, not your how, but your when but your why.

Why are you doing what you are doing?

Why do you do it the way you do it?

That talk changed my life because it resonated with everything in me that understanding who you are and the purpose you have here on earth is what shapes you to do what you do.

It is that silent push that makes you want to go in specific directions l: whether staring a business, getting married or applying for a job.

Knowing who you are and why you do what you do is what will propel you.

So the question then is how do you discover who you are?

How do you find yourself?

Are you lost 👀

No you are not lost and you don’t have to find yourself because the person you are never left…

Yes with pain, loss, sudden change and disappointment it can feel like you no longer know who you are.

When I looked at myself wondering what had become of me I wondered where I had left myself.

I realized that I had to go back abs fetch myself.

There comes a season in your life when it feels like things don’t quite fit…

When you being to realize that you are merely existing and not really living.

Getting up is a hassle, there is no passion in what you do, the glass looks completely empty and it feels like you are always tired even when you go to bed early and sleep for hours.

Why do I know this?

Because I have been there, I had forgotten who I am, I had forgotten my why and my purpose.

So how do you go back and fetch yourself?

How do you discover your purpose?

How do you operate in your God given destiny?

1. Start with the end in mind; what do you want to be remembered for? What legacy do you want to leave behind?

2. What are your natural abilities?

3. What stirs? What are the things that make you excited?

4. What problem in society do you want to solve?

Discovering your purpose is the first step to success.

“You know you are on the road to success if you would do your job and not be paid for it.

Knowing who you are and your purpose in life is fuel that propels you forward.

You don’t need someone to tell you what to do because you understand why you are doing it and where you are going.

Life throws us many curve balls and sometimes in our pursuit of dodging those balls we leave ourselves on the streets.

“The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but on significance–and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.”

-Oprah Winfrey-

As we enter the 2nd half of the year, return to yourself and re discover what ignited you to be the person you are today. Take

The time to write down your purpose in life and who you are.

The reality is that if you don’t know who you are, the world will tell you who you ought to be, and living out of truth to yourself is the most frustrating place to be.

Take it one day at a time, breathe and enjoy the process.
