Hello March

March is is a month that always reminds me of freedom.
Ghana’s Independence Day on the 6th of March, International Women’s day on the 8th of March and Namibia’s Independence Day on the 21st of March.

But what is physical freedom if you are bound mentally? In one of Bob Marley’s songs he writes “Emancipate yourself from mental slavery.” This is an old song that I grew up with, my father loved Bob Marley and you would hear his songs blaring on the stereo early hours of the morning.
What I loved about that song is that it taught me that the battle is not physical but rather mental.
You can have all the physical freedoms, but if you do not break the mental shackles that prevent you from perusing your dreams, you won’t go after your dreams. It is the limiting beliefs of self, the limiting beliefs of ones abilities that stagnates.
“As a man thinketh so is he.”
-Proverbs 23:7-
What you believe about yourself is what will come to pass. If you believe that you won’t make it: you won’t. If you believe you will make it, you will strive and find every possible avenue to enable you to succeed. If you believe you are ugly, it’s only ugliness you will see, if you believe you are beautiful you will see the beauty all around.

So take every thought captive and speak life into every situation.
It is hard in the beginning especially when things around you seem to be challenging and difficult. But as you change your perspective about the little things you will gain more confidence to change perspective about the big things.

So let us march forward 😆, taking cognizance of every thought and making a deliberate effort to speak truth and life to it. That we may walk in freedom in our minds as we do these streets.
